Tell us about your journey as a coach.

I went from being a teen mom and wife to owning several small businesses. Coaching is a calling. Any business takes time, a lot of effort, resources, and patience for it to be successful. Any coach who comes into this field understands that we are coaches for the purpose of helping others.

Some of us are certified and/or attended specific training. Because of this intense coaching program, we have to charge for our services, but every single dollar is an investment in one’s self.

For now, I am enjoying the growth, the success stories of my clients, and the journey of serving the world on a healing level.

With the years of education that I already have under my belt, I felt it was time to branch out of my classroom and help many others. I was inspired by Jay Shetty to become a life coach because, like him, I aspire to help heal a multitude of people from their traumas and many societal conditionings.

Coaching allows me to bring healing to my home, my family, and my friends, and now I can venture on to the global level. My business will grow, and I appreciate the timing and process of its development. I have been able to sit and process and reflect upon my teachings, gain the necessary experience, and help others selflessly. Life coaching is my contribution to the Universe.

What path for certification did you choose? What was it like, and would you recommend it?

I completed the Jay Shetty Certification School. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be a life coach. The program is a bit lengthy although it is self-paced, and you have a year to complete the course (with the option of an extension).

Acquiring practice clients can take a long time even though you are offering free sessions. This along with any supplemental materials of your choice can be time-consuming.

What are your thoughts on “choosing a niche” as a coach?

Always coach the client not the topic. A niche is simply there to narrow your audience, but life coaching is life coaching. Don’t let your niche keep you from coaching anyone.

Always coach the client not the topic.

What books have significantly influenced your life? What are your key takeaways from these books?

Jay Shetty’s Think Like a Monk taught me to detach from society, people, ideas, the past, etc.,…and to be more in tune with my own intelligence.

Dare to Lead by Brene Brown empowered me as a woman to hone my skills and to own the space I hold for myself and others regardless of the expectations set by others.

What are some of your favorite affirmations, and why?

“Have the Audacity to Believe in Yourself” – During one of the recordings of my podcast, I said this aloud and felt I was the one who needed to hear this more than my listeners, and it has resonated with me since.

“Flow with the river, don’t fight with the rocks” – This reminds me daily to trust that the divine powers at be are in control. I will not fight or stress over anything I cannot change. This affirmation has helped me be more solution-based and let go of anything that hindered my spirit.

When you feel overwhelmed, stressed, or have lost your focus or motivation, what do you do?

I meditate and focus on breathwork. I may run a hot bubble bath or journal, and sometimes I close my eyes while I listen to the lyrics of a song I have never heard before.

When I forget how beautiful life is, I take a drive to be close to water or go barefoot around my room to literally ground myself. Most of all, the most relaxing, and wholesome experience I love to endure is being with my children. When I feel lost in the routine, I sit them with me and we watch a Disney movie or a comedy to laugh the night away.

Do you have any examples of how a “failure” set you up for later success?

Society considered me a failure when I got pregnant at 16, but this only gave me the ammunition to continue to pursue all of my goals in life and to set an example for my children. Life happens at all ages; don’t let society stop you from being the best you can be.

If you could put a message on a huge billboard — getting a message out to millions — what would it say and why?

“Fall in love with yourself like you fall in love with others.”

We treat others like queens and kings when we first fall in love with others. We show them our best. We should always be kind to ourselves and treat ourselves in a way we wish others should treat us.
